ABOUT EMERISE LEBLANC-NOWLAN
Artist, author and illustrator Émerise LeBlanc-Nowlan is from Bouctouche, New Brunswick. After studying nursing and mental health, she worked at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Center. She then practiced her nursing profession for ten years at the Children's Hospital in Ottawa, before returning to settle in Moncton in 1995. Her interest in drawing and her love of people quickly led her to combine employment and art lessons. She participated in several painting exhibitions in Ottawa and Moncton, in addition to publishing five children's albums with Éditions Bouton d'or Acadie.
Her literary works have earned her several awards, including the iParenting Media Award and the Dr. Marilyn Trenholme Counsell Award from the New Brunswick Literacy Federation. She is a member of the Acadian Association of Professional Artists of New Brunswick (AAAPNB), of the CARFAC Maritimes, Hookeuses du Bor'de'lo as well as the International Guild of Handhooking Rugmakers (TIGHR).
Mother of three children and grandmother of two grand children. In 2021, Émerise LeBlanc-Nowlan completed a bachelor's degree in visual arts at the Université de Moncton with a concentration in painting and sculpture.
